About

You lower yourself between the handles and press your body back up until your arms are straight, while the support moves along with you. The exercise targets the triceps, chest, and front of the shoulders; adjusting the level of assistance changes the proportion of your body weight that you lift.

How to do it

  1. 1Bend your elbows as you lower yourself between the handles. Keep your knees on the support pad, and ensure your elbows move primarily backward.
  2. 2Stop when your upper arms are roughly parallel to the floor—or sooner, if the position feels uncomfortable.
  3. 3Push the handles away until your arms are fully extended; avoid bouncing on the support pad or shrugging your shoulders toward your ears.
  4. 4After the final repetition, maintain your grip on the handles, place one foot back onto the step followed by the other, and—while keeping everything under control—guide the now-unweighted support pad back upward.
