About
Bench dips are a bodyweight pushing exercise: your hands are placed on a bench behind you, while your feet rest on the floor. You bend and extend your elbows, keeping your hips close to the bench; the primary target muscle is the triceps.
How to do it
- 1Bend your elbows and lower your hips straight down, keeping them close to the bench, while maintaining a roughly vertical position for your forearms.
- 2Stop before your shoulders begin to shift forward or the position becomes uncomfortable. Your upper arms should not go lower than parallel to the floor.
- 3Push against the bench and extend your elbows to return to the starting position—without lifting your shoulders and without forcing the movement at the end.
