About

The leg press is an exercise performed on a machine in which you push away a platform or carriage by extending your legs at the hip and knee joints. It targets the quadriceps, along with the gluteus maximus and the adductor magnus muscles. The seat provides support for your torso while your legs move the weight.

How to do it

  1. 1Push the carriage away from you, then disengage the safety stops, keeping your knees slightly bent.
  2. 2Lower the carriage in a controlled manner, stopping before your pelvis or lower back begins to lift off the support surface.
  3. 3Push with your entire foot until your legs are nearly straight, but avoid locking your knees.
  4. 4After the final repetition, maintain control of the carriage, re-engage the safety stops, and ensure they are securely locked before relaxing.
