Straight-arm lat pulldown
BackCableBeginner

About
The straight-arm lat pulldown is a pulling exercise designed to build the latissimus dorsi muscles. Although it primarily targets the lats, it also engages the biceps and the mid-back significantly. The back is a muscle group that requires a great deal of variety; experiment with different angles and hand positions to maximize back muscle growth.
How to do it
- 1Stand upright.
- 2Grasp the bar with an overhand grip (palms facing down) at approximately shoulder width, and lean forward slightly, bracing yourself against your thighs.
- 3Keep your elbows slightly bent and initiate the movement by depressing your shoulder blades and extending your shoulders.
- 4Pull the bar toward your thighs until your latissimus dorsi muscles are fully contracted, then slowly and with control return your arms to the starting position. Perform the planned number of repetitions.
